There is traditionally an off-site banquet each February, however, no banquets have been held since 2018.

Note: The club was named the Seattle Numismatic Society (SNS) from 2003 to 2022.

2023-2024 - No banquet (yet).

2022 - No banquet, but meetings through August were held at Angelo’s Restaurant banquet room, Burien, WA.

2021 - No banquet; Dec. 2021 meeting held at Angelo's.

2020 - Banquet scheduled for March was cancelled.

2019 - No banquet was scheduled, due in part to the change in regular neeting location.

The banquet was held!

I don't know if the local ground hogs saw their shadow or not but according to my calendar it is still winter, and will be until next month. However, I have been seeing some signs that spring is drawing near. Buds and new shoots are starting to show on long dormant plants. Canada geese are starting to form up into vee formations again, a sign they are getting ready to head back north. And, we are seeing longer days, a little more sunshine and a little higher temperatures. My cat actually wants to go outside again, a sure sign of spring.

Another sign that we are on the downhill side of winter is the upcoming Seattle Numismatic Society annual banquet. Our February meeting is devoted to this event which will be held this year at the Mandarin Buffet and Grill, 14850 NE 24th St, Redmond, WA 98052, just south of SR 520 off of 148th Ave. S. I say event because along with a fine choice of Asian delicacies and pleasant (hopefully) conversation and camaraderie with fellow club members, we will hold a white elephant sale of numismatic and non-numismatic items to raise funds for our treasury. This is our only fund raiser of the year and pays for our monthly prizes, refreshments, and newsletter expenses.

With that, we hope that you and yours will join us for a fun evening of food and bidding. Remember to bring a big appetite, lots of white elephants and a little extra cash so you can take home someone else's donations. Start time is 6:30 p.m., with the auction starting around 7:15 p.m. See you there. Note that auction items don’t necessarily need to be numismatic — anything goes!!

2017 annual club banquet and auction information — The annual club banquet and white elephant auction was held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Mandarin Buffet & Grill, Bellevue/Redmond, starting at 6:30 p.m. The auction was scheduled to begin sometime around 7:15 p.m. We were in the semi-private banquet room as usual, which provided plenty of room for the auction.

Report: Thanks to all who attended the February banquet. There were many items, numismatic and not, up for auction. The total auction tally was $190.00.

Report: The annual club banquet and auction was a rousing success!!! Thank you so much to the members who donated items to the auction as well as all of the bidders. Through your generosity, the club was able to raise $755.00 in total auction proceeds and donations. These funds help pay for our newsletter expenses, refreshments and monthly prizes and giveaways.
